Activation troubleshooting
When a product won't activate, the cause is usually simple. Work through these in order:
- Re-enter the code carefully. Watch for confused characters such as 0/O and 1/l, and avoid extra spaces.
- Confirm you're online. Activation checks in with the maker's servers, so a stable connection is required.
- Check the system clock. A wrong date or time can cause activation to fail.
- Make sure the code matches the product and edition you installed.
- Update the program first. An out-of-date version may not accept a newer code.
Updates won't complete
Failed updates are one of the most common problems and usually come down to connectivity or leftover files:
- Restart the computer and try updating again.
- Confirm your internet connection is stable.
- Make sure the system date and time are correct.
- Free up disk space if the drive is nearly full.
- Temporarily pause any second security tool that may be interfering.
- If updates still fail, a clean reinstall (see below) usually resolves stubborn cases.
Security software slows my PC
Some slowdown during a full scan is normal, but persistent sluggishness can often be improved:
- Schedule scans for idle times, such as overnight, instead of while you work.
- Run only one antivirus. Two products competing is a leading cause of slowdowns.
- Reduce startup load. Disable non-essential programs that launch at boot.
- Keep the software updated. Performance fixes often arrive in program updates.
- Check your hardware. Very low memory or a nearly full disk affects everything, not just antivirus.
Conflicting security software
Two active antivirus programs will interfere with each other. To resolve conflicts:
- Decide on a single primary antivirus to keep.
- Fully uninstall the others through Windows "Installed apps."
- Use each vendor's official removal/clean-up tool to clear leftovers, where one exists.
- Restart the computer.
- Confirm in Windows Security that only your chosen product is active.
Uninstall & reinstall safely
A clean reinstall fixes many stubborn issues. The key is removing every trace before reinstalling:
- Note your activation details before you begin, in case you need them again.
- Uninstall the program from Windows "Installed apps."
- Run the vendor's official removal tool if one is available, to clear leftover files.
- Restart the computer.
- Download a fresh installer from the official source and install it.
- Update and reactivate, then run a scan to confirm everything works.
Browser protection issues
Many suites add browser extensions or web-filtering features. If web protection misbehaves:
- Confirm the security extension is installed and enabled in your browser.
- Update the browser to the latest version.
- Temporarily disable other extensions to rule out a conflict.
- If a safe site is blocked, review the product's web-protection or exclusions settings.
Windows compatibility & Windows Security
To check whether Windows' built-in protection is active:
- Open Settings → Privacy & security → Windows Security.
- Select Virus & threat protection.
- Review the protection status. If a third-party antivirus is installed, Windows will usually show it as your active provider.
After major Windows updates, restart before installing or updating security software. If a program stops working right after an update, a reinstall often restores compatibility.
Subscription & account matters
We can help you understand general subscription and renewal behaviour — for example, why protection stops after a licence lapses, or how to reinstall after renewing. However, the account itself is controlled by the software maker.
Handled by the manufacturer
Billing, refunds, cancellations, licence transfers and account passwords must be handled directly with the software maker's official support. We are an independent service and cannot access those systems.
